3 from Sterling receive Logan County Nursing Scholarship

The Logan County Nursing Scholarship fund has awarded three scholarships. Each recipient of these $1,500 awards is a current college student pursuing a nursing degree. The 2022-2023 school year winners include: Cristen Houghton, Sterling, will begin her final year at Northeastern Junior College this fall. After graduating with her RN in the spring of 2023, she plans to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Northern Colorado with goals of pursuing graduate-level work.

her second year of the Northeastern Junior College nursing program. Like her sister Cristen, Kaitlyn also plans to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Northern Colorado.

Kaylee Schell, Sterling, is pursuing her associate degree in nursing at Northeastern Junior College while concurrently enrolled at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing.

β€œThe Logan County Nursing Scholarship (LCNS) committee is gratified to be able to provide scholarships and support these local nursing students,” said Mary Sutter, LCNS committee member. β€œ These awards also enable us to invest in the future of Northeastern Colorado.”

Since 1958 the Logan County Nurse Scholarship Association has granted awards to 288 students totaling over $377,500. Applications for the 2023-- 2024 scholarships will be available in mid-January 2023. The scholarship fund is managed by the Eastern Colorado Community Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, which manages individual charitable funds, scholarships and $180 million in assets.
